Lake Superior
Railroad Museum

Miscellaneous Holdings

In addition to the huge collection of full-sized railroad equipment, the museum also holds an even greater collection of railroad memorabilia on display. Including an immaculately maintained collection of railroad fine-china and silver used in the golden ages of railroading.

Also falling into this category is the McGiffert Self-Propelling Log Loader, it was named after early Duluth resident J.R. McGiffert, who invented and produced the original machine around 1900. Clyde Iron Works in Duluth constructed the museum’s McGiffert in 1920.
