Jazz at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum

February 19, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

| $6

The most popular event of winter has returned to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum at the St. Louis County Depot in downtown Duluth. JAZZ at the Depot is back! Sponsored by Krenzen.

Every Saturday in winter, continuing through April, the former Club Saratoga Jazz Quartet will perform live, trackside in the Train Museum each Saturday from 3-6pm. Admission is just $6 and includes a $2 off coupon good for discounts on all concessions including the cash bar. Coffee and hot cocoa are complimentary.

The music of; Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glen Miller, Thelonious Monk, The King of Swing Benny Goodman and all the other greats from the past and modern jazz eras will be featured. Group leader Randy Lee provides interesting, musical commentary and Museum Executive Director Ken Buehler will share a bit of train history…because if you work it hard enough, it all comes back to the railroad!

Besides the cash bar there will be gourmet hot dogs, hot Roundhouse Chili, a selection of chips, snacks and fresh popped popcorn available for sale. All concessions are discounted $2 with every paid admission.

The quartet features; Randy Lee on reeds, Paul Ierino plays piano, John Thorene base and Jerry Siptroth and others playing drums.

The Club Saratoga discontinued Saturday jazz shows several years ago and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum picked up the tradition. Last year’s pandemic shut the Depot down to the public and the concerts were cancelled. They’re back this winter.

Safety protocols are in place with staff wearing masks and guests encouraged to do the same when not eating or drinking. Contact areas are cleaned between use and hand sanitizer is readily available. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing. If you have symptoms, please come next week instead.
