SUMMARY:Hot Stove Night: 50th Anniversary Presentation The Early Years
DESCRIPTION:50th Anniversary Presentation: The Early Years\n\nBy David Schauer and Tim Schandel\n \nEnjoy this slide show presentation on the history of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and the Lake Superior Transportation Club. \nThe “Early Years” presentation will feature images and stories from the start of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in the 70’s to the early 1990s. Included will be the Lake Superior & Mississippi’s formative years and the work of the Lake Superior Transportation Club\, which pre-dates the museum. Photos of volunteers and staff who helped make the museum what it is today will also be featured. \nWithout the work of these early museum pioneers\, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum would never be what USA Today voted the “BEST Transportation Museum in America.” Nor would today’s North Shore Scenic Railroad be the destination attraction it has become. \nTuesday\, April 11th in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum at 6:30pm. Admission is FREE for Lake Superior Railroad Museum and St. Louis County Historical Society members and their guests. Use the North Shore Scenic Lobby entrance. \n  \nLive stream of this event will be available today (4/11)\, starting around 6pm… The show will begin at 6:30pm CST as scheduled.\n \n    Or watch on   \n

SUMMARY:Jazz at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum
DESCRIPTION:The most popular event of winter has returned to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum at the St. Louis County Depot in downtown Duluth. JAZZ at the Depot is back! Sponsored by Krenzen. \nEvery Saturday in winter\, continuing through April\, the former Club Saratoga Jazz Quartet will perform live\, trackside in the Train Museum each Saturday from 3-6pm. Admission is just $6 and includes a $2 off coupon good for discounts on all concessions including the cash bar. Coffee and hot cocoa are complimentary. \nThe music of; Duke Ellington\, Count Basie\, Glen Miller\, Thelonious Monk\, The King of Swing Benny Goodman and all the other greats from the past and modern jazz eras will be featured. Group leader Randy Lee provides interesting\, musical commentary and Museum Executive Director Ken Buehler will share a bit of train history…because if you work it hard enough\, it all comes back to the railroad! \nBesides the cash bar there will be gourmet hot dogs\, hot Roundhouse Chili\, a selection of chips\, snacks and fresh popped popcorn available for sale. All concessions are discounted $2 with every paid admission. \nThe quartet features; Randy Lee on reeds\, Paul Ierino plays piano\, John Thorene base and Jerry Siptroth and others playing drums. \nThe Club Saratoga discontinued Saturday jazz shows several years ago and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum picked up the tradition. Last year’s pandemic shut the Depot down to the public and the concerts were cancelled. They’re back this winter. \nSafety protocols are in place with staff wearing masks and guests encouraged to do the same when not eating or drinking. Contact areas are cleaned between use and hand sanitizer is readily available. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing. If you have symptoms\, please come next week instead.
