Built in 1907, the Norther Pacific Railway No. 2435 was used for freight service during the iron ore boom of the early twentieth century in Duluth and around Lake Superior. By the time it was retired in 1954, the No. 2435 had traveled approximately 1,680,000 miles hauling iron ore.
