Festival of Steam with Big Boy No. 4014

Overview:

The Festival of Steam runs Friday through Sunday with activities surrounding the Union Pacific Railroad’s “Big Boy” No. 4014, which will be on display all weekend at the Duluth Depot. There will not be any rides on it, but it will be steamed up and on display. The Lake Superior Railroad Museum’s steam engine will be pulling passenger train rides during the weekend.

Friday July 19th 2019 – The Arrival

• #4014 Arrives from St. Paul at approximately 5:00pm to the Duluth Depot.
• Spectators outside gated area are welcome. However, there will be no public access to station platforms due to security reasons. The locomotive will remain in this location, parked, until Sunday morning.
• Evening Activities:
  • Lake Superior Railroad Museum EXTENDED hours until 9:00PM
    • 5PM-7PM: Happy Hour in the Museum
    • 6:00PM-8:30PM: Movie in the Museum: 1939 “Union Pacific” – starring Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea, Anthony Quinn & Robert Preston
    • Admission is $14 for adults, $6 for children, or ½ off this price if you have a train ticket on the North Shore Scenic Railroad.
    • Ice cream shop open for movie snacks and refreshments
    • Museum entry pass available at the admissions window
• PLEASE NOTE: ACCESS TO BIG BOY No. 4014 AND FESTIVAL SITE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON FRIDAY EVENING.
