Freight Equipment Cars

Freight cars carry the goods that you use every day. Throughout history, the railroads hauled material and goods that built the country we know today. The Lake Superior Railroad Museum has a variety of historic freight cars in the collection that represent the various forms of these commodity carriers.

You will find Boxcars, Tank Cars, Flat Cars, Ore Cars, and even some rare narrow gauge freight cars in the collection as you tour inside and outside in the rail yard. This is a great learning opportunity for younger visitors too, identifying what cars carry certain loads of freight.
