For December we are reading the books Train Song a

For December we are reading the books Train Song and Santa's Christmas Train and then making train ornaments! Bring your holiday cheer and enjoy the decorated museum. Free for members, $7/adults, $4/kids (3-13), under 3 is free.

Could you have been on a snow train crew? The plow

Could you have been on a snow train crew? The plow didn't do all of the work! Crews didn't just consist of the plow and locomotive crews. Other railroad employees would ride along in a caboose with a box car full of tools to help did out the plow if it got stuck or to clean up the tracks after it went past. Happy Thanksgiving from the LSRM! Turkey was a big deal on the dining cars, especially around the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Turkeys for the trains generally weighed in at 16 to 24 pounds! How big was your turkey this year? Did you ever have turkey dinner on a train?

Oliver Mining Co. No. 904 was a sister engine to the No. 900 in the museum. This locomotive came out between May 1939 and December 1940, only 34 were ever made. The Oliver Mining Co. owned seven. From the LSRM Archives.
