St. Paul & Pacific Baggage/Coach No.1 & No. 3

St. Paul & Pacific Baggage/Coach No.1 & No. 3

No. 1 is one of the oldest combination cars in existence, built in the 1860s, where half of the car is a baggage area and the rest is eighteen coach seats. Heat for the passengers was provided by two coal stoves and lit by candles. To cool off, passengers’ only choice was to open the windows!

The No. 1 and the No. 3 were refitted in the 1920s for exhibition along with the William Crooks steam locomotive.
