National Train Day

May 11 - May 12

 

Saturday May 11th 10am to 5pm

Celebrate the 155th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869. The Lake Superior Railroad Museum will be hosting special events to celebrate this annual holiday!

Activities included:

  • Leonard Draper Maintenance Shop open for tours
  • Railroad speeder rides
  • Railroad Swap Meet
  • Engine cab tours
  • Visiting locomotives on display
  • Kids crafts
  • Special exhibits open for tours
  • Steam engine #332 fired up for testing
  • Tables and booths from various area attractions and other railroad organizations
  • Special concession stand snacks
  • Train movies in the Zelda Theater

Train Rides

Swap Meet information

The Swap meet will be taking place on Saturday May 11th from 10am to 5pm and will be located in the Great Hall (3rd floor of the Depot). The swap meet is open to all railroad related items, including but not limited to, model trains, books, magazines, clothing, signals, movies, artifacts and more!

We still have tables open for the swap meet if you are interested in selling any railroad items.Tables are $10 each with all funds going to the Lake Superior Transportation Club. If you are interested in reserving a table or two for the swap meet, please email ali@duluthtrains.com.

Admission information

Admission to the swap meet is FREE! Children are FREE with a paid adult to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum*. Regular admission prices are $14 for adults, $7 for children aged 3-13 and children under 3 are FREE.

*One child per one paid adult
